Under pressure……

What can I say? Life is hard, life is difficult, but not so hard for the likes of me or you, my reader, when compared with the daily struggle of others all over the world. There I’ve defeated my own arguement, before I’ve even got started.

I was, lamely, going to suggest that I’m even lower than a snails bum at present. Work, home, family, they all need our attention, though fortunately for us, we don’t need to struggle for the basics of survival, that so many of the poor struggle around this globe have to. I’m just trying to fit everything in to my comfortable world. Sadly with not much success.

The gears on the Pioneer were slipping badly last week, so I left it into Halfords, I have a Bikecare agreement, for them to re-index the gears for me. It was a Saturday afternnoon, when I had to pick the bike up, so I decided to use my bus pass, 60 plus here in Wales, take the bus to Aberavon, then cycle the rest of the way to work.

I needed to change buses twice, but I got to the Aberavon branch of Halfords in an hour and a half. It takes me an hour and a quarter to go a mile further on the Pioneer. Wasn’t too bad, some weirdos on the bus, but it was good to see the sights of Neath Vale from a bus passenger’s perspective.

To cut to the chase, the gears aren’t much better for Halfords efforts, even though there was no charge? But the trip home this morning after my nightshift felt much better?

Four consequetive days in Cardiff now, not looking forward to it, union business, quite nervous in fact. Going to try to cycle to Port Talbot every day though, on route. Hard work, when it means arriving back at Port Talbot, and still have 20 miles to cycle home.

There I go again, some people have to walk 20 miles plus, just to get water for their family, we just don’t know how easy we’ve got it!

It is a golden rule that just because there are people worse off than you, there is no law against moaning. If there was, only one person in the world would be allowed to moan and that would leave a lot of us with a lot of time on our hands.

I hope the gears keep working OK.

You’re probably right, but making sense of this world we live in, is beyond me, and so frustrating when I look at the comparative trivia that holds me back from addressing important issues, concerns, and responsibilities immediately, not just “when I have time.” Sorry that makes me sound very grand, which I am most definitely not, it’s just me struggling to get done what needs to get done for my family, my colleagues and not forgetting me. Glad to hear one person, at least, isn’t fed up of my moaning. Cheers.

  2. Thinking about how worse off others are is pointless as you really have little chance of making a real difference to their lives no matter what “they” say. My advice is just ignore other people’s problems and focus on making the most of your beautiful life as you never know when it will end. Yes, helping others will make you feel good, but your life must be worth living first. Get planet KC on track then revisit this post.

Sorry to hear about your derailleur bike problems, you have my sympathies and also thank you for reminding me how lucky I am not to have one, I hope you are some day in that position too 🙂
    I love my bike… can’t say that without singing… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAO95Q5IiYY

What you should think about is how you are going to save the money for a Raven.

  3. It’s been a month, have you given up on wordpress?
    How’s the cycling going?

Hi Tim, No I haven’t, as yet, given up on wordpress, too busy to blog, so much else needs doing. I’m stil cycle commuting 3-4 times a week, but rarely get out on the bike otherwise. I hope to catch with a post soon, cheers.
