Who needs the sun?

Woke up with the sun shining brightly on the drawn curtains of the bedroom, as my youngest sun was getting ready to go to work, it was 06.15. I always set my alarm as a backup for his nibs, just in case of an oversleep situation.

Then I dozed till 07.00., and got up, with the intention of a spin around the village. I got everything together, then noticed that the sunshine had disappeared, as I walked down our path wheeling my Pioneer, there were even spots of rain in the light breeze. Halway down the path I stopped, contemplating abandoning the trip, something I’ve rarely done before, no matter what the weather!

Being spoilt with continuous sunshine for the last week or so had obviously softened me up, and I had to mentally urge myself to go cycling. It did look bleak with low clouds covering the valley sides, and rain just hanging there waiting to lash down.

It was quite close, but the breeze generated by 14-15 mph on the Pioneer made things feel very pleasant indeed. I cycled a short loop down the valley, round Cwmgwrach, through the field of flowers, past Unity mine, skirted Cwmgwrach washery and its associated new drift mine, before turning round and heading back up the valley, eventually going to Craig dinas at Pontneathvaughan.

All in all it was a great morning ride, hair and clothes a bit damp from the odd spot of rain along the way, but cool, in fact super cool.

Riding a bike is just fantastic!

    Yep…

Sun and warmth is better, but being on the bike is being on the bike 😉

A few of the hills I cycled up this morning where shrouded in Mist and Fog…Shame the views are normally worth the effort!

I can’t believe I had to make such an effort to go cycling yesterday. Very strange for me, after all the years I’ve been going out, and vitually in all weathers. Cloud and mist did hide the views for me as well, thanks for dropping by.

  3. Nice. It’s great when you can just enjoy cycling for its own sake (and not worry about indexing gears) avoiding rain e.t.c

Wouldn’t it be great if we could just cycle without maintaining the bike? Or would it? Perhaps we’d get bored of perfection, not the cycling, but the perfect bike.
